Letter from Fr. Jim

Dear Family in Christ,

Thank you to all who have continued to give financially to St. Benedict’s during these stressful times. I realize how tempting it is for you when times get tough to cut church and charity from our budget. Unfortunately it appears that many have chosen this route since our Sunday offertory over this past month has slipped to 25% of our ordinary collection. We can not survive with this decrease in revenue.

It saddens me to say that we are soon having to lay-off staff, if not to ask all of us to take a serious cut in pay. The church is not a great place to make a big income. However, this may be a reason why now, is this time of want, we should try to do for our employees as much as we can. Our personnel here are among the finest of church employees. They truly deserve whatever kindness we can show them. I know that I am asking much of you, especially those with only minor income at this time. Thank you for whatever God moves you to help keep the parish plant running.

Of course, that last line also means that, like you, we have other bills to pay, such as utilities, insurance, maintenance issues and upkeep of the property. Please do consider e-giving through your local bank, mailing in your donation or dropping it off at the parish center mail slot located at the front door.

Last, but surely not least, stay healthy and follow the rules. Be good to each other and stay in touch with the lonely, the elderly and the sick.

Love in Him,
Fr. Jim

****************** Message from the St. Benedict Knights of Columbus ******************

Dear Family in Christ,

Our Pastor, Fr. Jim, is asking us – his parishioners – to continue to support the Parish monetarily if you are able. Due to the “stay at home” decree and temporary suspension of conducting Holy Mass, weekly donations have dramatically decreased.

St. Benedict Knights of Columbus Council 13485 supports Fr. Jim’s request and offers to help you use the  “e-giving “  online tool to enable you to donate to the Church online. In addition, Council 13485 suggests that anyone who receives a federal stimulus check to please consider tithing 10% to our Church or as much as you can afford.

Last, but surely not least, stay healthy and follow the rules. Be good to each other and stay in touch with the lonely, the elderly and the sick.

KofC members(or spouse) available to assist in setting up your e-giving account over the phone:

Rick Bray 248-789-5412
